SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 963
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of Houston in mourning the loss of Richard Frank Smith, who died
April 28, 2007, at the age of 53; and
       WHEREAS, Richard Smith served the community as a Houston
firefighter for 30 years, and he was a member of the Houston
Livestock Show and Rodeo safety committee; a patriotic American,
he served his country as a medical corpsman in the United States
Army; and
       WHEREAS, Richard was very enterprising and owned his own
business, Bay Breeze Carpet Cleaning; and
       WHEREAS, Richard's family was the center of his life, and
he leaves behind memories that will be cherished by his family
and all who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Richard Frank Smith: his wife, Elsa; his
daughter, Adrienne; his sons, Richard and Daniel; and his sister,
Carol; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Richard Frank Smith.
