SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 965
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Alfred A. Banzer on the occasion of his retirement
from Verizon Southwest in Austin; and
       WHEREAS, Alfred Banzer has been the state regulatory
affairs manager for Verizon Southwest since 1998; before
joining Verizon, he was manager of state pricing and tariffs
with GTE Telephone Operations in Irving from 1993 to 1998; and
       WHEREAS, Originally from New York, Mr. Banzer earned a
bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering at the
University of Maryland; he joined General Telephone Company
of the Southeast in Durham, North Carolina, in 1972 and held
various positions in the engineering, planning, regulatory
affairs, tariffs, and product management departments before
moving to Texas; and
       WHEREAS, Throughout his distinguished career, he has
handled his many responsibilities with exceptional skill and
dedication and has earned the admiration and respect of his
colleagues; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby commend Alfred A. Banzer for his many
achievements and extend best wishes to him in all his future
endeavors; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
