SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 972

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Marie Harrison on the occasion of her induction into the Walk of Champions in The Parks at Texas Star in Euless; and

WHEREAS, The walk honors individuals who have made significant contributions to Euless and its parks system; Marie is being honored along with her late husband, Ed Harrison; and

WHEREAS, The couple raised four children and spent countless hours volunteering for the Euless Girls Softball Association and the Euless Athletic Association for three decades; her husband prepared the fields for games as a part-time worker for the city for 12 years; he also coached softball; and

WHEREAS, Marie spent her Sundays making telephone calls to find umpires to work each of the seven fields for Euless's softball games, which took place five nights a week; she organized the schedules and paid the umpires; she also played softball from the age of 30 until she was 65; and

WHEREAS, Today, Marie enjoys reading and spending time with her eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; she and her late husband had a positive impact on the Euless community and the parks system, and they deserve recognition for their generosity and hard work; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby commend Marie Harrison for her many years of service to her community and extend to her congratulations on being named to the Walk of Champions in The Parks at Texas Star; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. Nelson
