SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 975
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
citizens of Del Rio in mourning the loss of Jack L. Richardson,
who died April 12, 2007; and
       WHEREAS, Jack L. Richardson was born in 1929 in
Wichita, Kansas, and spent his youth on a wheat farm; at the
age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Army, where he worked
as an antiaircraft gun crewman, classification specialist, and
cryptograph technician; after leaving the military, he worked
for some time with Boeing Aircraft; and
       WHEREAS, Mr. Richardson joined the United States Border
Patrol in 1953 and was first assigned to Del Rio; after working
in Michigan, North Dakota, and California, he returned to Texas,
where he eventually became chief patrol agent of the Del Rio
sector; and
       WHEREAS, Mr. Richardson also worked for the City of Del Rio
as the director of the Del Rio International Airport and as the
primary grant writer for the city; he was successful in securing
funding for numerous projects that have been of great benefit to
the citizens of Del Rio, including saving the Val Verde County
courthouse; and
       WHEREAS, Mr. Richardson was committed to service, both to
his country and to his community; he will be remembered for his
civic dedication and generosity and his devotion to his family;
now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Jack L. Richardson: his wife of 58 years,
Helen Louise; his daughters and son-in-law, Mary Rene Richardson
and Leigh Ann Lindsey and Dr. Terry M. Lindsey; his sister,
Casey Marlnee; and his seven grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Jack L. Richardson.
