SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1002

In Memory |

|
Cory Christian Kosters |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens |
|
|
of The Woodlands in mourning the loss of Private First Class |
|
|
Cory Christian Kosters, who died March 5, 2007, at the age of 19, |
|
|
while serving his country in Iraq; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Cory Kosters was a member of the 2nd Battalion, |
|
|
505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, |
|
|
82nd Airborne Division, based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Cory joined the United States Army shortly after |
|
|
he graduated from The Woodlands High School; he had looked |
|
|
forward to the day he could enlist in the armed forces, and he |
|
|
enjoyed boot camp and was eager to serve his country in Iraq; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Private First Class Kosters demonstrated |
|
|
unwavering resolve and selfless bravery in the performance of his |
|
|
duties; he was known as the "Ice Man" by his fellow soldiers for |
|
|
his composure under the stress and rigors of combat; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A man of courage, with an imaginative and |
|
|
adventurous spirit, Cory gave generously to others, and his |
|
|
kindness, enthusiasm, and deep spiritual conviction will not be |
|
|
forgotten by those who knew him; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Cory was a devoted son and brother, and he leaves |
|
|
behind memories that will be cherished forever by his family and |
|
|
many friends; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
80th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the |
|
|
bereaved family of Cory Kosters: his parents, Senta and |
|
|
Marlon Kosters; and his brother, Kevin Kosters; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy |
|
|
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this |
|
|
day, it do so in memory of Cory Christian Kosters. |
