SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1010

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Citizenship McKinney on the grand occasion of its 20th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Citizenship McKinney was established as a community leadership development program sponsored by the McKinney Chamber of Commerce; it offers an educational experience that provides personal leadership training and develops a heightened understanding of the City of McKinney and its relationship with the Metroplex; and

WHEREAS, This exemplary program begins with a two-day orientation retreat focusing on individual and community leadership skills; in the ensuing months, participants meet monthly to examine specific features of the community, such as local government, the city's heritage, the arts, health care, economic development, and the criminal justice system; and

WHEREAS, Citizenship McKinney members gain awareness into the inner workings of the community and develop a valuable network of friends among its civic, business, and educational leaders; and

WHEREAS, Citizenship McKinney will celebrate 20 years of developing community leaders at the 20th Anniversary Celebration, which will be held on May 16, 2007; the City of McKinney and the participants of Citizenship McKinney have benefited greatly from this exceptional program; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby commend the participants of Citizenship McKinney for preparing new generations of community leaders and extend to them congratulations on the occasion of the group's 20th anniversary; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this outstanding organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
