SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1018
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in
  recognizing the Edom Cemetery on the occasion of its 150th
  anniversary; and
         WHEREAS, A gentleman by the name of William Featherston was
  camping on the site that is now Edom Cemetery 150 years ago; he
  became ill and died; the owners of the property allowed the man's
  family to bury him on the site, thus starting the Edom Cemetery;
  and
         WHEREAS, The Edom Cemetery serves primarily the local Edom
  community, but some people bring their departed ones from
  hundreds of miles away for burial; and
         WHEREAS, The cemetery is supported by donations; Memorial
  Days, also known as cemetery upkeep days and decoration days,
  have been held for more than 100 years to take care of the
  cemetery and the graves of the more than 2,300 persons buried
  there; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  80th Legislature, hereby commend those who have volunteered
  their time and energy to care for the Edom Cemetery and extend to
  them best wishes for a memorable sesquicentennial observance;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the cemetery in honor of this occasion.
