SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1020
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Mary Jane Kitchens
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Mary Jane Kitchens, who died April 22, 2007;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mary Jane Kitchens was the descendant of
  Methodist circuit rider minister Thomas Jefferson Burt and of
  Mary Telitha Shasteen Burt, her grandmother, the first woman
  judge in Fort Sumner, New Mexico; her father, Walter Hall, was an
  early Austin radio program fiddler who played weekly requests for
  Governor Ma Ferguson; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Kitchens shared 54 years of marriage with her
  husband, the late Clyde William Kitchens, Sr.; she was a retired
  accountant and office manager for Sage, Incorporated; and
         WHEREAS, Active in community affairs, Mrs. Kitchens was
  involved with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post
  10458 and the World War II 36th Division Recon Reunion; she was
  also committed to her work as a Sunday school teacher; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Kitchens was devoted to her family and was a
  beloved member of her community, and she will continue to live in
  the hearts and minds of those she left behind; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  80th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
  bereaved family of Mary Jane Kitchens: her son, George W. Kitchens;
  her daughters and son-in-law, Lina L. Wintz and Ina M. Faulk and
  Jim Faulk; and her 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and
  two great-great-grandchildren; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Mary Jane Kitchens.
