SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1024

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay tribute to Kenneth Laird, who celebrated his 60th birthday on February 12, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Laird was born on February 12, 1947; he and his wife, Esther, were married on January 9, 1971; they have one child, Gina Laird, and two grandchildren, Aspen and Blake; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Laird is the proprietor of Laird's BBQ in Llano; he began operating the business in 1986 in the back of Esther's parents' house; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth and Esther purchased the property for the present location of Laird's BBQ in 1992, and they continue to serve some of the best barbecue in Texas; and

WHEREAS, In addition to preparing his marvelous barbecue, Kenneth enjoys spending time with his family, hunting and fishing with his good friends, and reading; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Laird is an esteemed and valued member of his community, and he has contributed greatly to the well-being of the citizens of Llano over the years; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby recognize Kenneth Laird as a treasured citizen of the State of Texas and extend to him best wishes for many more birthday celebrations; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as a memento of his special day.
