SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1043

WHEREAS, When they married many years ago, Bobbie and Elvin Currie placed great faith and trust in the future, and they have been amply rewarded, as theyare celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The couple met in Ruston, Louisiana, and they were married there on June 1, 1957; they soon relocated to Dallas; Mr. Currie served in the military at Fort Bliss and worked in the food industry in Dallas, and Mrs. Currie worked with special needs children in the Dallas Independent School District; and

WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the years of their marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. Currie have cherished traditional family and moral values; and

WHEREAS, Over the years, they have grown stronger in their love and devotion as together they have experienced the joys and sorrows of everyday living; they have been blessed with a son, Marcus, who has brought them much pride and joy; and

WHEREAS, Their family and friends will join them on June 2, 2007, for a joyous celebration of their 50th anniversary; the loving relationship that Bobbie and Elvin Currie share is truly an inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby extend congratulations and best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Currie on their golden wedding anniversary; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this distinguished couple as a memento of this special day in their lives.
