SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1049

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Grapevine Faith Christian School Lady Lions, who have won the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools 4A girls state basketball championship title; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Lions overpowered Austin Hyde Park 47-27 in the championship game, which was held in Tyler; the team finished the season with a record of 26-13; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Lions defeated San Antonio Lutheran 75-44 in the semifinal contest; this is the fourth year in a row in which the Faith team has reached the state tournament; and

WHEREAS, Faith's girls basketball team members entered the season with determination and exhibited perseverance, team unity, and respect for the highest ideals of sportsmanship as they demonstrated their talent and the discipline instilled in them by head coach Troy Wallace; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Lions are a source of tremendous pride for the students and faculty at Faith Christian School, their families, and the Grapevine community, and they deserve recognition for their outstanding achievement; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby congratulate the members of the Faith Christian School girls basketball team and their coaching staff for winning the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools 4A state basketball championship and extend to them best wishes for success in the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
