SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1050
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Sister Margaret Ann Moser, who is being honored with |
|
|
the 2007 Our Friends' Place Ebby Award; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This celebrated award honors individuals who have |
|
|
made significant achievements for the advancement of girls or |
|
|
women in the North Texas area; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sister Margaret Ann is president of Ursuline |
|
|
Academy of Dallas, a Catholic preparatory school for girls; a |
|
|
1956 graduate of Ursuline Academy, she earned a bachelor's degree |
|
|
in history from the College of New Rochelle and a master's degree |
|
|
in theology from Saint Mary's University in San Antonio; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under Sister Margaret Ann's leadership, the |
|
|
parental involvement of the alumnae has doubled, the student |
|
|
enrollment has increased, and the scholarship endowment has |
|
|
grown to $7.6 million; also, a new athletic building and center |
|
|
for performing arts were completed and the library was renovated; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Committed to preparing her students to compete in |
|
|
a global economy, Sister Margaret Ann Moser has strengthened the |
|
|
mathematics and science departments; in pursuit of this goal, the |
|
|
school was one of the first in Dallas to issue laptop computers to |
|
|
all students, and it is establishing the French Family Science, |
|
|
Math and Technology Center; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sister Margaret Ann will receive this prestigious |
|
|
award at Our Friends' Place annual fundraising gala on May 19, 2007, |
|
|
in Dallas; the Dallas community has greatly benefited from the |
|
|
outstanding educational efforts and the generous spirit of |
|
|
Margaret Ann Moser; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
80th Legislature, hereby commend Sister Margaret Ann Moser for |
|
|
her dedication to Ursuline Academy of Dallas and its students and |
|
|
extend congratulations to her on receiving the 2007 Our Friends' |
|
|
Place Ebby Award; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
