SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1066
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the Richardson Independent School District on its |
|
|
selection as the recipient of the 2007 H-E-B Excellence in |
|
|
Education Award for large districts in Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Richardson Independent School District was |
|
|
selected from among five finalists in the large district |
|
|
category; the award includes a gift of $100,000 from H-E-B; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The district was named one of the finalists after |
|
|
a site visit in March and a comprehensive evaluation of district |
|
|
operations, performance, educational philosophy, and learning |
|
|
culture; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The prestigious H-E-B Excellence in Education |
|
|
Awards program is the largest monetary recognition awards |
|
|
program for educators in Texas and one of the largest in the |
|
|
nation; more than $380,000 in cash and grants were presented this |
|
|
year to the grand-prize winners; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An innovative retailer of fresh food and quality |
|
|
products in Texas for more than 100 years, H-E-B launched the |
|
|
awards program in 2002 in cooperation with the Texas Association |
|
|
of School Administrators to support public education, to |
|
|
spotlight best practices, and to celebrate the work of Texas |
|
|
educators; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The H-E-B Excellence in Education Award is a |
|
|
result of the hard work of all who are a part of the Richardson |
|
|
Independent School District and of the emphasis the district |
|
|
places on educational excellence and student achievement; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
80th Legislature, hereby commend the teachers and administrators |
|
|
of the Richardson Independent School District for their efforts |
|
|
on behalf of their students and congratulate them and the students |
|
|
on receiving the 2007 H-E-B Excellence in Education Award; and, |
|
|
be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the Richardson Independent School District as an expression of |
|
|
esteem from the Texas Senate. |
