SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1069
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Jerry Lowry, who has been selected as the recipient |
|
|
of the Distinguished Community Leader Award by Leadership |
|
|
North Houston; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Distinguished Community Leader Award is |
|
|
given to a Leadership North Houston alumnus who has demonstrated |
|
|
exceptional community leadership and who has the quality of |
|
|
empowering and inspiring others; Jerry is a graduate of the |
|
|
Leadership North Houston class of 2001; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The vice president and chief operating officer of |
|
|
the Greater Greenspoint Management District, Jerry oversees the |
|
|
organization's public safety program, its state grant to reduce |
|
|
auto thefts in the area, the operation and maintenance of parks, |
|
|
trails, and landscaping, and the district's finances; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A leader with the North Houston-Greenspoint |
|
|
Chamber of Commerce, he served as chairman of the board of |
|
|
directors in 2006; he is past-chair of the Executive and |
|
|
Personnel Committees; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He is a founding member and chairman of the board |
|
|
of directors of Greenspoint Community Partners, an organization |
|
|
that raises funds to support public safety, recreational |
|
|
development, and beautification of the Greenspoint area; in 2005 |
|
|
he was personally responsible for procuring $300,000 in grants |
|
|
and corporate contributions to support public safety efforts; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Jerry has given generously of his time, energy, |
|
|
and public safety expertise to the benefit of the citizens of |
|
|
North Houston, and he deserves recognition for his exemplary |
|
|
service and outstanding leadership; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
80th Legislature, hereby commend Jerry Lowry for his exceptional |
|
|
contributions to his community and extend congratulations to him |
|
|
on receiving the Distinguished Community Leader Award from |
|
|
Leadership North Houston; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
