SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1088
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
recognize Becker Elementary School of the Austin Independent |
|
School District on the occasion of its 70th anniversary; and |
|
WHEREAS, Becker Elementary School, the Becker Parent-Teacher |
|
Association, and the Bouldin Creek Neighborhood Association |
|
celebrated the school's 70th anniversary on Friday and Saturday, |
|
October 20 and 21, 2006; and |
|
WHEREAS, The school's goals include providing enrichment |
|
opportunities to all of its students and helping them to acquire |
|
the skills to lead productive lives in today's challenging world; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, The school's major programs and initiatives |
|
include a Green Classroom that provides hands-on gardening and |
|
environmental science education, the Austin Energy Solar Panel |
|
Project, a Special Education Inclusion Pilot School, and a Prime |
|
Time After-School Enrichment Program; and |
|
WHEREAS, Becker Elementary School was built in 1936; it |
|
serves students in prekindergarten through the fifth grade; over |
|
the last 70 years, the school has been led by excellent principals |
|
and many outstanding teachers who have provided superior |
|
educational opportunities to its students; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
80th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the past and present |
|
students, faculty, and administration of Becker Elementary |
|
School on the school's 70th anniversary; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a |
|
memento of the special occasion. |
