SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1114

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Kealing Middle School Science Olympiad team, which recently won the 2007 state championship title; and

WHEREAS, The mission of the Science Olympiad is to promote student interest in science and to improve the quality of science education throughout the nation; and

WHEREAS, Science Olympiad tournaments bring science to life and emphasize the problem-solving aspects of science; students learn teamwork and cooperative learning strategies, and the competition promotes high levels of achievement and a commitment to excellence; and

WHEREAS, Science Olympiad team members Caitri Feddeler, Abigail Cain, Annie Osborne, Arami Rosales, Lee McClennon, Mark Sands, Emerson Curtis, Ivy Nguyen, Jason Pan, Angela Liu, Qiaoyi Wang, Victoria Cui, Jeffrey Holzgrafe, Chloe Ling, Abi Miller, Casey Edgerton, Harris Davidson, and Marci McClennon can take great pride in their outstanding performance; and

WHEREAS, Kealing Middle School and the City of Austin are proud of these young scholars for their accomplishments, their scientific skills, and their perseverance; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Kealing Middle School Science Olympiad team for their dedication and discipline and extend congratulations to them on winning the 2007 state championship title; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the members of the team as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
