SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1125
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased
  to recognize Arthur A. Valdez, who is retiring from the Houston
  District of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission after
  15 years of loyal service; and
         WHEREAS, Art Valdez joined the Texas Alcoholic Beverage
  Commission after retiring from the Houston Police Department;
  he completed training in Austin and became an agent on
  January 6, 1992; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout his career, he has demonstrated
  exceptional commitment as a state police officer and as an
  agent with the commission, and he has distinguished himself
  by his dedication to curbing underage alcohol consumption and
  eliminating the associated problems; and
         WHEREAS, He has spent countless hours working with Mothers
  Against Drunk Driving by participating in its Youth Power Camps
  and with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission's Project SAVE
  (Stop Alcohol Violations Early) and its Shattered Dreams
  program; and
         WHEREAS, He was promoted to sergeant on May 1, 2004, and
  was assigned to the Houston District's administrative offices,
  where he has reviewed administrative cases and held settlement
  conferences; he continued teaching the commission's Shattered
  Dreams program and liquor law classes for the Houston Police
  Department Academy; and
         WHEREAS, He was reassigned to patrol duties in October
  of 2006, and he has been supervising a team of six agents he
  entitled the "A-Team," a team that has earned a reputation as a
  top producer in the Houston District; and
         WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, Art Valdez has long
  been held in admiration and respect by his colleagues, and his
  presence in the Houston District office of the Texas Alcoholic
  Beverage Commission will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  80th Legislature, hereby commend Arthur A. Valdez on his many
  contributions to the state as a police officer and as an agent
  with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and extend to him
  best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
