SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1128
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased
  to recognize Terry Nixon for his courageous service on behalf
  of his nation during the Vietnam War; and
 
         WHEREAS, Terry was a United States Army medic with the
  108th Artillery stationed at the Dong Ha combat base in 1968; he
  and two fellow Texans proudly flew a Texas flag over the medical
  facility at the base; it was a flag they had requested from the
  office of Governor John Connally; and
 
         WHEREAS, A highly trained and respected soldier, Terry
  was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with the V Device for his
  valorous action on March 8, 1968, when he treated numerous wounded
  soldiers during an intense rocket attack; in addition, during his
  tour of duty in Vietnam, Terry's humanitarian efforts included
  regularly administering medical aid to South Vietnamese
  villagers; and
 
         WHEREAS, When he left Vietnam, Terry left his Texas flag
  behind so that his fellow Texans could have the benefit of its
  good providence and fortune, and eventually the other two Texans
  returned home safely; Terry is truly deserving of recognition for
  his honorable service and his sacrifice on behalf of his country;
  now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  80th Legislature, hereby commend Terry Nixon for his exceptional
  service to our nation during the Vietnam War and extend to him
  best wishes in all his future endeavors; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
