SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1135

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Grant Stanis on the auspicious occasion of his graduation from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin with a master's degree in professional accounting; and

WHEREAS, A high achiever, Grant establishes and pursues his goals with perseverance and a clear vision of his future; his notable accomplishments in school bear witness to his dedication and outstanding abilities; and

WHEREAS, Grant served three terms in the student government at the university as president pro tempore and business representative; he earned the George H. Mitchell Business Leadership Award in 2004 and on April 9, 2005, was appointed honorary chair of The University of Texas System Board of Regents; and

WHEREAS, His professional work experience has included serving as a policy analyst for state Senator Florence Shapiro; since 2003, he has advised the Senate office on policies concerning state taxes, business, commerce, and economic development; he has been a valuable asset to the senator's office through his solid research and recommendations and his interaction with constituents; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby commend Grant Stanis on earning his master's degree in professional accounting from The University of Texas at Austin and extend to him best wishes for success in the years ahead; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
