SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1139
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Delwood II neighborhood in Austin on the occasion
  of its 50th annual Fourth of July celebration and parade; and
         WHEREAS, The residents of the Delwood II neighborhood have
  been holding an Independence Day celebration and parade since
  1957; each year the parade has grown larger, and it is traditionally
  led by the Reagan High School Color Guard and Drill Team; it has
  attracted many special guests, including legislators and other
  elected officials; and
         WHEREAS, The Delwood II neighborhood consists of seven
  square blocks with 175 homes that were built in the 1940s, a
  90-unit apartment complex, two churches, and a limited area
  zoned for businesses; the residents reflect the diverse
  population of Austin; and
         WHEREAS, The neighborhood is described as a beautiful,
  tree-filled oasis surrounded by Interstate Highway 35 to the
  west, the Mueller development to the north and east, and
  Airport Boulevard to the south; and
         WHEREAS, The Delwood II Neighborhood Association was
  founded in 1979 to improve the quality of life in matters of
  land use, environmental protection, public services, consumer
  protection, and other matters of neighborhood interest; and
         WHEREAS, The neighborhood's 50th annual Fourth of July
  celebration and parade is an excellent occasion to recognize the
  historical significance of the Delwood II neighborhood and its
  many contributions to the development of the City of Austin; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  80th Legislature, hereby congratulate the citizens of Delwood II
  and the Delwood II Neighborhood Association on the 50th anniversary
  of their Fourth of July celebration and parade and extend to all
  best wishes for a memorable event; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a
  memento of this special occasion.
