SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1141

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Christopher Cribb, who has won a Gold Seal award at the Texas Art Education Association's Visual Art Scholarship Event; and

WHEREAS, To participate in the scholarship event, students are invited to take work from their art classes to the state competition, where it is evaluated by a jury; and

WHEREAS, The Texas Art Education Association has sponsored the Visual Art Scholarship Event since 1994; and

WHEREAS, Christopher won an exemplary rating for a drawing he did of himself; he is the son of Janet Stockard and Peter Cribb and is a junior at Lake Travis High School; and

WHEREAS, His award is the first Gold Seal won by a student in the Lake Travis district; less than one percent of the 16,000 entries in the competition received the Gold Seal award; and

WHEREAS, Christopher's artwork, along with that of other Gold Seal winners, will be in a traveling exhibit for the next nine months; it will be on display in the State Capitol in June of 2007; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby congratulate Christopher Cribb on winning the Gold Seal award in the Texas Art Education Association's Visual Art Scholarship Event and extend to him best wishes for success in all his future endeavors; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
