SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1142
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Sara Alvarez Canchola
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
  of Austin in mourning the loss of Sara Alvarez Canchola, who died
  February 20, 2007, at the age of 89; and
         WHEREAS, She was born in Kingsville on December 15, 1917;
  she was married to the late Victorino R. Canchola for 46 years,
  and the couple was blessed with two children; they moved from
  Corpus Christi to Austin in 1981 to live near their daughter; and
         WHEREAS, In Austin, Sara Canchola worked for the Austin
  Independent School District as a bus monitor for disabled
  children; after her retirement, she lived with her daughter, who
  lovingly cared for her for 11 years; and
         WHEREAS, She was a member of Beacon Ridge Baptist Church
  and she touched many people with her devout faith, her unwavering
  courage, and her selfless devotion to her family; and
         WHEREAS, A dearly loved mother and grandmother, she was an
  inspiration to all who knew her, and her family and friends will
  long remember her endless patience, her unconditional love, and
  her warmth and kindness; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  80th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
  bereaved family of Sara Alvarez Canchola: her daughter, Maria Canchola;
  her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Samuel Victor Canchola and
  Cindy Canchola; her five grandchildren, David Canchola,
  Dr. Daniel Canchola, Jennifer Weeks, Monica Canchola, and
  Peyton Canchola; and her five great-grandchildren; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Sara Alvarez Canchola.
