SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1156
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Philip R. Pyndus
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
  of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Philip R. Pyndus, who died
  May 9, 2007, at the age of 85; and
         WHEREAS, Philip Pyndus was born November 9, 1921, in Houston;
  after serving his country in the United States Army during
  World War II, he attended The University of Texas at Austin
  and graduated with honors with a bachelor's degree in business
  administration; and
         WHEREAS, Following his graduation, Mr. Pyndus entered the
  steel business in Houston by joining the Moncrief-Lenoir Steel
  Company; he later moved to San Antonio, where he opened his own
  company, Pyndus Steel; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to public service, Mr. Pyndus served two
  terms on the San Antonio City Council representing District 8;
  he was also a member of the San Antonio Breakfast Club and the
  San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, and he served on the welcoming
  committee for Ronald Reagan's 1980 visit to San Antonio; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Pyndus was an avid tennis player, and he
  captained the Oak Hills Men's 3.5 Seniors 55+ team to a national
  championship in 1993; in 2001, he and his wife, Margie, became
  Texas' Senior Olympics Champions; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Pyndus will be remembered for his generosity,
  his kindness, and his humor, and his family and friends will
  continue to live with cherished memories of his life and his many
  accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  80th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
  bereaved family of Philip R. Pyndus: his wife of 59 years,
  Margaret H. Pyndus; his daughter and son-in-law, Beth Pyndus Morin
  and Dr. Ronald R. Morin; his son and daughter-in-law,
  Richard M. Pyndus and Jeanette A. Pyndus; his grandchildren,
  Katherine Marie Morin and David Michael Morin; and his brother,
  Stanley E. Pyndus; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Philip R. Pyndus.
