SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1157
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  John Hayes Crichton
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
  of San Antonio in mourning the loss of John Hayes Crichton, who
  died May 16, 2007, at the age of 86; and
         WHEREAS, John Crichton was born in Minden, Louisiana,
  on July 21, 1920, the son of Thomas Crichton, Jr., and
  Bernard Moore Crichton; he was a resident of San Antonio for the
  last 18 years; and
         WHEREAS, During World War II, he was company commander of
  the 155th Infantry in New Guinea; he was a major, G-2 Section,
  6th Army, in charge of intelligence gathering, and was an aide to
  General Walter Krueger, commander of the 6th Army; and
         WHEREAS, He had worked as an attorney in Shreveport, Louisiana,
  as managing director of Better Hotels of Louisiana, as chief
  executive officer of Computer Controls of Palm Beach, Florida, and
  as the owner and chief executive officer of The Commonwealth Group
  in San Francisco; and
         WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman,
  John Crichton was respected for his many accomplishments and his
  wise and generous counsel; and
         WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and
  grandfather, and he will long be remembered with affection and
  admiration by all who knew him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  80th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of John Hayes Crichton: his wife, Flora Cameron Crichton;
  his daughters, Kate C. Gubelmann, Anne C. Clark, and Lili C. Monell;
  his son, John H. Crichton, Jr.; his stepdaughter, Megan C. Finch;
  and his nine grandchildren; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
  so in memory of John Hayes Crichton.
