SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1163

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Mark Howe, who has been selected as the 2007 Distinguished Friend Award recipient by the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation; and

WHEREAS, This esteemed award is given to an individual who has demonstrated a commitment to the mission and vision of the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation; and

WHEREAS, The founder of Howe/Wood and Company, Mark Howe is a past president of the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation's board of directors and has for many years supported the foundation with his time, talent, and financial resources; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his service as president of the foundation, Mr. Howe has served as a director of the foundation for more than six years; he also made a $25,000 donation to the foundation's endowment fund in honor of his mother, Inez Cannon Howe, a retired teacher; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Howe is receiving this honor at the foundation's academic recognition banquet on May 24, 2007; he is truly deserving of appreciation and admiration for his many contributions to the cause of education in Tarrant County; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby commend Mark Howe for his commitment to education and extend congratulations to him on receiving the 2007 Distinguished Friend Award from the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
