SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1165

WHEREAS, Creative and caring means are needed to help communicate with young children who are in child abuse or neglect situations and are placed in foster care, so that they can better understand the role of the court and the different volunteers and officials assigned to assist them; and

WHEREAS, To help these children, a special book project of Child Advocates, Incorporated, was undertaken by Barbara Abell and Jackie Crowley with the assistance of many caring people and organizations; and

WHEREAS, The special book project, Just for Now: Kids and People of the Court, is now complete and is being distributed statewide to all of the individuals and organizations involved in working with children in foster care situations; and

WHEREAS, The book will provide immeasurable benefits and reassurance to many abandoned and abused children in our state; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby honor Child Advocates, Incorporated, and Barbara Abell and all of the special individuals and organizations involved in this book project; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for Barbara Abell as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
