SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1214
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Stephen F. Austin High School on the grand occasion of
  its 125th anniversary; and
 
         WHEREAS, Stephen F. Austin High School's first campus was
  established in 1900 at the corner of 9th and Trinity Street and
  was known as the finest public high school in the South; during
  the period of 1900 to 1925, the building was called "old red," so
  named for its dark red bricks; and
 
         WHEREAS, The school moved to 1212 Rio Grande in 1925, where
  it remained for 50 years; in 1975, the school relocated to the
  present Lakeside Campus; and
 
         WHEREAS, Stephen F. Austin High School maintains high
  standards and expectations in academics, athletics, citizenship,
  and service; the 1883 school seal, with its motto of Mens Agitat
  Molem, The Mind Moves the Mass, is one of the school's oldest
  surviving artifacts, and the school has remained a place where
  the students strive to make continual progress and the faculty
  and staff provide an atmosphere beneficial to learning; now,
  therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  80th Legislature, hereby commend Stephen F. Austin High School
  for 125 years of educational excellence and extend best wishes
  to the students, faculty, and staff for the future; and, be it
  further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the school as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
