SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1217
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Shana Patrice Ellis
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Houston in mourning the loss of Shana Patrice Ellis,
  who died March 28, 2007, at the age of 38; and
         WHEREAS, Shana Ellis was a vocational rehabilitation
  counselor with the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative
  Services; and
         WHEREAS, She was born on February 9, 1969; she earned a
  bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Houston in
  1992; she received her teacher certification from the University
  of Houston in May of 2005; and
         WHEREAS, She began her service with the State of Texas in
  March of 1997; she has worked as a specialist for Child Protective
  Services in the Department of Protective and Regulatory
  Services, a parole officer for the Texas Department of Criminal
  Justice, a workforce development specialist for the Texas
  Workforce Commission, and a service coordinator for the Mental
  Health and Mental Retardation Authority of Harris County in
  Houston; and
         WHEREAS, She was a responsible and valued employee who
  demonstrated exceptional dedication to the vocational
  rehabilitation program and the needs of its consumers; she was
  a member of the professional organization Texas RehabACTion
  Network; and
         WHEREAS, Shana Ellis was a kind and thoughtful woman who
  was devoted to her family and committed to helping others; she
  leaves behind memories that will long be cherished by her
  family, her friends, and all those whose lives she touched; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  80th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to
  the bereaved family of Shana Patrice Ellis: her son,
  Steven Lawrence Cox; her daughter, Samantha Elise Ellis;
  and her parents, Jerome and Pat Ellis; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Shana Patrice Ellis.
