No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would prohibit a person from advertising, promoting, or conducting a live musical performance which falsely asserts an affiliation between a recording group and a performing musical group. In addition, the bill authorizes the Office of the Attorney General to bring an action for temporary or permanent injunction and to recover a civil penalty for each violation.
It is assumed that any costs associated with implementation of the bill could be absorbed within the agency’s existing resources.
The bill would take effect on September 1, 2007.
