IN RE:
HB70 by Leibowitz (Relating to restrictions on the prices of certain consumer goods and services during an abnormal disruption of the market. ), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would create a new violation of the Deceptive Trade Practices-Consumer Protection Act by prohibiting the sale of essential consumer goods or services at an excessive price during an abnormal disruption of the market. The bill would likely result in new complaints, investigations or cases by the Office of the Attorney General; however, any costs associated with the implementation of the bill could be absorbed within current resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
