Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION
Revision 1

March 22, 2007

TO:
Honorable Mike Krusee, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB90 by Branch (Relating to notary public service at a vehicle storage facility.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code to require a vehicle storage facility to provide notary public service during the "operator's business hours" if the Texas Transportation Commission adopts rules requiring an owner of a vehicle to establish ownership or right of possession by presenting an affidavit to the operator of a vehicle storage facility.

The bill would take effect on September 1, 2007.

Based on the analysis of the Texas Department of Transportation, any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
