No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require a minimum of six credit hours in early childhood education or early childhood development with curricula based on standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) or comparable standards for early childhood education-related certifications. The bill would require that a person seeking early childhood education certification be permitted to obtain not more than half of any required field experience or internship with relevant supervised work experience at a public school, federal Head Start program, or child-care facility operated in accordance with NAEYC standards.
