IN RE:
HB136 by Olivo (relating to the promotion of students to certain grade levels in public schools.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would revise current law procedures, for students who fail certain assessments, regarding the retesting of these students, providing them accelerated instruction, and the intervention of the grade placement committee. The provisions of the bill are not expected to have a significant fiscal impact for the state.
Local Government Impact
District grade placement committees would be required to intervene earlier in the assessment process. There also may be an additional burden to districts to ensure the appropriate ratio of teachers to students, 10:1, for accelerated instruction. Potential costs to local school district would vary widely depending on how many students were affected and needed educational plans and accelerated instruction.
