IN RE:
HB152 by Phillips (Relating to exempting certain military personnel from the hunter education program.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Parks and Wildlife Code to exempt active duty or honorably discharged military personnel from Texas hunter education requirements.  According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, the bill would result in minimal negative revenue implications for the 1,500 military personnel it is estimated may take advantage of the exemption (15 percent of approximately 10,000 personnel).  To the extent 1,500 personnel are exempted from classes at $5 per student, the estimated revenue loss ($7,500) is not anticipated to be significant.  The bill would take effect September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
