FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION
Revision 1

April 27, 2007

TO:
Honorable David Swinford, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB180 by Zedler (Relating to the creation and dissolution of a covenant marriage.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would create a difference between a covenant marriage and noncovenant marriage and mandate the Office of the Attorney General to create a pamphlet explaining the terms and conditions of a covenant marriage, including information on dissolution and legal separation and provide those pamphlets to the county clerks. It is assumed that any additional cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing state resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
