Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

January 31, 2007

TO:
Honorable Mike Krusee, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB194 by Gonzalez Toureilles (Relating to the dismissal of a charge for failure to carry and exhibit a driver's license.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 521, Transportation Code, authorizing a judge to assess a defendant an administrative fee not to exceed $10 at the time the judge dismisses a charge for the offense of failure to carry and exhibit a driver's license.

Local Government Impact

Revenue gained from imposition and collection of an administrative fee would vary by court, and the amount would depend on the number of applicable charges that would be dismissed. No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
