TO: | Honorable Dianne White Delisi, Chair, House Committee on Public Health |
FROM: | John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | HB332 by Chisum (Relating to the exemption for certain educational facilities from the child-care licensing requirements.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted |
The bill would amend the exemption for certain education facilities by reducing the minimum age for children from five to four and by adding preschools to the programs offered.
The bill would also amend the exemption to certain facilities to include those accredited by an accreditation body that is a member of the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission. The bill would specify that certain exemptions would apply only to an educational facility that operates in a county with a population of less than 25,000.
The Department of Family and Protective Services indicates it could absorb the costs associated with the bill within its current resources.
