LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

February 8, 2007

TO:
Honorable Will Hartnett, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB369 by Hardcastle (Relating to the appointment of bailiffs for the 97th Judicial District.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize the judge of the 97th District Court to allow a bailiff to serve that court in more than one county of the district. If the bailiff serves in more than one county, the bailiff would be entitled to receive a salary set by the judge and approved by the commissioners court of each of the counties in which the bailiff is designated to serve. The salary would be apportioned among the counties served.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
