HB371 by Dukes (Relating to a study regarding the conversion of certain Class C misdemeanors to civil infractions.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Office of Court Administration (OCA) to study the costs and benefits of converting Class C misdemeanors to civil infractions, including a study of civil collections procedures for fines, court costs, and fees on the new civil infractions.  The bill would require the OCA to file report results and recommendations no later than October 1, 2008 with the governor and legislative entities.  According to the OCA the fiscal implication of the bill to the State is not anticipated to be significant.  The bill would take effect September 1, 2007.


Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
