LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

February 26, 2007

TO:
Honorable Mike Krusee, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB397 by Cook, Byron (Relating to an offense of using a wireless communication device while operating a motor vehicle in a school crossing zone.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The state would receive additional revenue to the Foundation School Fund in amounts dependent upon the number of citations issued for using a wireless communication device while operating a motor vehicle in a school crossing zone, and on the amount of the fine. There are no data readily available for estimating this revenue, but it is not expected to be significant in relation to the level of appropriations from the Foundation School Fund.

Local Government Impact

Local governments would see an increase in revenue in amounts not estimated to be significant.
