No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Section 497.010, Government Code, to allow the sale of arts or crafts by inmates and state jail defendants. The proceeds from the sale of items would first reimburse the Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) for the cost of materials provided by TDCJ and the remainder goes to the inmate, in accordance with Section 501.013, Government Code. The bill would take effect September 1, 2007.
