No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code by authorizing the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) inspector general to own electronic, mechanical, or other devices for the purpose of monitoring in a variety of methods, an inmate or state jail defendant’s location and use of a cellular telephone who is confined in a TDCJ facility or a facility under contract with TDCJ.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice has determined that the costs associated with implementing the bill are not anticipated to be significant and would be absorbed with current resources.
