No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code as it relates to the continuing education requirements for constables.

Section 1 of the bill amends Occupations Code, Sections 1701.3545 (b) and (d) which requires the Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education to establish a 48-month continuing education training period for constables. The bill also requires the Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education to establish that the first continuing education training period for constables begins on the first day of the first uniform continuing education training period after the constable completes their initial training period. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2007.

The Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education anticipates no fiscal impact to the agency.
