IN RE:
HB566 by Hamilton (Relating to compulsory school attendance for students who are at least 18 years of age.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.

The bill would amend compulsory attendance provisions applicable to students who voluntarily enroll in or attend school after their 18th birthday to require that such students attend school until the end of the school year.  Students who voluntarily enroll in or attend school after their 18th birthday would be subject to offenses related to failure to attend school, but the student’s parents would not be subject to nonattendance warnings or other offenses for contributing to nonattendance of a student.  The bill would remove language relating to the revocation of enrollment of such students due to multiple unexcused absences.
