No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would add to the list of municipalities that are authorized to annex an area for limited purposes a home-rule municipality with a population of more than 17,500 that is located in a county with a population of less than 125,000 that is adjacent to a county with a population of more than 1.4 million.

Local Government Impact

Based on the 2000 U.S. Census, the bill would add home-rule municipalities located in eight counties to those authorized to annex an area for limited purposes: Chambers, Ellis, Kaufman, Liberty, Parker, Rockwall, Waller, and Wise. 

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
