LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

February 19, 2007

TO:
Honorable Kevin Bailey, Chair, House Committee on Urban Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB738 by Bonnen (Relating to an exemption from Texas Commission on Fire Protection training requirements for certain aircraft fire fighting and rescue fire protection personnel.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code by defining the persons who may be appointed to aircraft fire fighting and rescue fire protection positions. The bill would allow a person to be appointed to an aircraft fire fighting and rescue fire protection position without completing the training and certification process if the person holds an Airport Operating Certificate under Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 139 and is employed at a Class IV airport as described in the Code. The Commission on Fire Protection reports the bill would have no significant impact on state funds. The agency estimates a loss of $50 per fiscal year in certification fee contributions to the General Revenue Fund as a result of the bill.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
