FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

February 26, 2007

TO:
Honorable Helen Giddings, Chair, House Committee on Business & Industry

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB750 by Dutton (Relating to the amount of a late fee under a residential lease.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would prohibit a landlord from charging more that $150.00 per month as a late fee and requires the landlord to give the tenant prior written notice of the restriction on late fees. It is assumed that any costs associated with implementation of the bill could be absorbed within current state resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
