Honorable Harold V. Dutton, Jr., Chair, House Committee on Juvenile Justice & Family Issues
FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB772 by Dutton (Relating to social studies conducted in certain suits affecting the parent-child relationship.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Chapter 107, Family Code, to establish minimum qualifications for social study evaluators who make recommendations regarding adoption, conservatorship, possession of, or access to a child. It would also require qualified social study evaluators to complete at least eight hours of family violence dynamics training. The agency indicates that there would be some cost to implement the provisions of the bill, but these costs are expected to be absorbed within the agency's existing budget.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
