HB833 by Dutton (Relating to the prevention of harassment in public schools.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would establish a statutory definition of harassment and would require school districts to adopt policies prohibiting harassment pertaining to students, employees, and volunteers including disciplinary processes and procedures and would require related training and educational programs for students and employees. The bill would require the Texas Education Agency to create a model policy posted to the agency web site and to collect and post summary data on the incidence of harassment to the agency web site.

Local Government Impact

Costs to implement required educational and training programs could vary.  Some relevant training programs are currently available through regional education service centers.
