IN RE:
HB868 by Haggerty (Relating to the recreational facility fee at The University of Texas at El Paso.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

Under provisions of the bill, the University of Texas System may impose on each student enrolled at the University of Texas at El Paso a recreational facility fee in an amount not to exceed $70 per student for a term or semester of 10 weeks or more or $50 for any other term or semester. The University of Texas System estimates the university's recreational facility fee will increase from $12 per semester to $20 per semester in Fall 2007 and from $20 per semester to $70 per semester and $50 per summer semester in Fall 2009. The University of Texas System predicts that the fee will generate $9,089,907 in local funds over the next five years. Enrollment increases will generate additional revenue. The student services building fee will be locally assessed by the University of Texas at El Paso.
